Sometimes after a couple cocktails (okay, every time) my wife and I like to stuff our faces with snacks. This obviously does not bode well for the whole “healthy lifestyle” thing. That’s why I have this yogurt dip recipe in my arsenal.
I cut way back on the fat and calories in this dip by using yogurt, reduced fat sour cream, and reduced fat cream cheese. I personally don’t like fat free products (except yogurt) for a couple reasons. First, they taste like crap. And second, food companies usually replace the fat with a long list of artificial ingredients. But reduced fat products still taste pretty good and chop the calorie count down considerably. I like spicy foods, but my wife doesn’t. So I make it without hot sauce and add some Frank’s Red Hot to mine.
This healthy yogurt dip is a breeze to make too. So in case you’re on your third glass of wine (like I was when I made it), you don’t have to worry about screwing it up. I recommend fresh chives to enhance the flavor, but freeze dried works too. Serve the dip with some salt-free blue corn chips and you have yourself a fairly healthy snack, folks. It’s also good to serve to unsuspecting guests at parties. They’ll never know it’s healthy because it tastes fricking awesome.
So enough of my blabbering. Here’s the healthy yogurt dip recipe …
