The consistency and taste resembles a milkshake, but it doesn’t have ice cream. So you get all the great taste of a strawberry banana milkshake without the calories and fat. My recipe provides a pretty big portion and only weighs in at 210 calories (and zero grams of fat and 6.5 grams of fiber!)
Compare this to the medium Strawberry shake at Sonic, which has 750 calories, or the medium Banana Shake, which has 860 calories. Yikes.
There are a couple ways to make it. My favorite is with the following three ingredients: strawberries, bananas, and milk. If you prefer the vegetarian version, almond milk works just fine too. If you opt for almond milk, make sure you get the unsweetened version. You may want to consider buying organic strawberries, because they’re generally higher in pesticides. If you’re wondering why it matters, check out my “Truth About Organic” article. There’s no need to buy organic bananas because they’re protected from pesticides and other contaminants by their thick skin.
