This cherry banana smoothie recipe is delicious and healthy. Cherries and bananas are great sources of potassium and vitamin C. Cherries, in particular, have a number of health benefits … cherries may:
1. Reduce inflammation.
2. Help relieve the symptoms of gout.
3. Decrease pain after working out.
And according to researchers at my alma mater, Michigan State University, cherries may even help relieve pain as well as ibuprofen (the main ingredient in Advil and Motrin).
This cherry and banana smoothie recipe has 140 calories and 3.5 grams of fat. I used almond milk, but you can also use water, which will knock the calorie count down to just 100.
I used frozen organic dark cherries, which you can pick up in most grocery stores. You don’t need to buy organic bananas because the thick skin helps prevent any pesticide residues from contaminating the frozen.
