Recently  I have bought an ancient IBM T20 laptop :D from the Internet. And after trying with the latest Ubuntu 9.10 linux, I feel that it seems to be quite heavy for my ancient laptop to run it smoothly (700MHz, RAM 256MB ). Therefore I come to Puppy Linux.

Here are some tips I got after working around about 2 hours:

1- You may meet the problem is that the pupply live CD can not recognize any HDD (like my IBM T20) so you can not go on to the next steps to install puppy.

=> You may have to install  Special puppies. Puppy 430 kenel 2.6.21.7 works well for my IBM.

pup-430-k2.6.21.7-scsi-intel_modems.iso 102.8MB This is built with an even older kernel. The 2.6.21.7 kernel goes back to Puppy 3.x. This kernel does not have the libata drivers so recognises IDE drives as /dev/hd*. This build will recognise and boot from SCSI drives and has the Intel 536/537 modem drivers.

Download it here:

Then just follow these posts:

Good luck!
